Mémoires Perdues questions the notions of collective memory and progress: Do we really learn from the lessons of the past? The same patterns of oppression and violence seem to be replaying and we are like Sisyphus, who pushes the boulder uphill, forced to perpetually start over when it rolls back down again. Mémoires Perdues is an emotional response to this seemingly endless repetition of pain. It is a cry for the urgency of memory for our future.
