Hvordan forsvarer vi demokratiet i en tid præget af krig, autoritære strømninger og voksende usikkerhed? Hvilken rolle spiller kunst og kultur, når frihed, menneskerettigheder og civilsamfund kommer under pres?
Yulia Navalnaya er en af verdens mest fremtrædende stemmer for demokrati og menneskerettigheder. Efter sin mands død, den russiske oppositionsleder Aleksej Navalnyj, har hun fortsat kampen for et frit og demokratisk Rusland og står i dag som en ledende skikkelse i den russiske demokratiske opposition.
På Kulturmødet vil hun i en tale og efterfølgende samtale med journalist og historiker, Adam Holm, dele sine erfaringer fra kampen mod autoritære regimer og sætte fokus på de udfordringer, Europa står overfor i dag.
Arrangementet præsenteres i samarbejde med Europa-Kommissionens repræsentation i Danmark og er en del af Globalt Udsyn, en ny programserie på Kulturmødet, der udvider vores horisont og bringer verden til Mors. Serien er udviklet gennem Kulturmødets partnerskab med OpEn – Udenrigsministeriets Oplysnings- og Engagementspulje – og realiseres i samarbejde med CISU – Civilsamfund i Udvikling og Roskilde Festivalgruppen.

How do we defend democracy, freedom and civil society in a time marked by war, authoritarianism and growing uncertainty? What role should arts and culture play when democratic values are under pressure?
Yulia Navalnaya is one of the world's most prominent voices for democracy and human rights. Following the death of her husband, the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, she has continued the fight for a free and democratic Russia and today stands as a leading figure in the Russian democratic opposition.
In a special keynote, Navalnaya will share her experiences from confronting authoritarianism and reflect on the challenges facing Europe today. The keynote will be followed by a conversation
with journalist and historian, Adam Holm, on the role of culture and civil society in times of war and uncertainty.
This event is presented in collaboration with the European Commission Representation in Denmark and is part of ‘Global Outlook’, a new programme series at Kulturmødet that broadens our horizons and brings the world to Mors. The series has been developed through Kulturmødet's partnership with OpEn – the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Information and Engagement Fund – and is realised in collaboration with CISU – Civil Society in Development and Roskilde Festival Group.
